ReplyDeleteThanks for the sources
ReplyDeleteAre we able to share our work???
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a place on the blog for it, no. But there's a great community on the Go Teen Writers FB page and there are usually lots of people ready to read for each other: https://www.facebook.com/groups/goteenwriters/
DeleteThough I've only read a handful of posts on this site, I'm glad to have it as a resource. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found us, Cassia!
DeleteI'm really happy there's a site like this for writers like me! Thanks so much for making this.
ReplyDelete:)
I've been to this site before and was very intrigued by it. I think it would help with my writing and possibly boost my confidence. I tend to think I have good ideas but not sure how good I am technically. - MJ
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say, that I find your site AMAZING. You have just what I need, and more. I so appreciate you making this site. I also really like that some of you on here are Christian, as I am too. :) So, thank you so much, and keep up the good work!

ReplyDeleteI clicked on the 'you can find out more details about our writing contests here' link and it told me that the page I was looking for didn't exist...is there any other place I can go to find out more information? Also, I just wanted to say thanks for making this blog. It's rare to find writing advice aimed especially at teens.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me know! Yes, we've had some changes to our contests, so I took the page down. I didn't realize I had linked to it here. Thank you!
DeleteHello, i really liked this blog! Very helpful, i was wondering .. is there any blog or website i can post me writings? Novel? writings in general so others can read? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie! Wattpad is a popular one, if you're just wanting to put some stuff out there for feedback. http://www.wattpad.com/
DeleteYARN is a literary magazine that takes submissions from teen writers: http://yareview.net/
We don't have anything specifically set up for it on Go Teen Writers, but in the Facebook group, people often ask if anyone is willing to critique for them, so if you want a smaller group, then that can be good too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/goteenwriters/
Definately recommend this for any writer...
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for something like this, thank you so much! I've been getting less and less active with my writing and this is just the thing I need to get me going again. :)

I have been lurking around this website for a few days now and I must admit, as a writer who has come to too many hurdles and just given up, this blog helps me get through those time when I'm weaker minded and though I'll probably never be good enough to be published I am glad to have the time wasted.
ReplyDeleteGlad you've found us! And I know we've all felt that way at some point :)
DeleteI just kind of "discovered" this site, and I learned so much during the first hour! (Which, of course, means I was totally into the site, and stayed for the rest of the night.) >_<
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking your time and sharing tips and lessons for us teens.

DeleteHey all! My name is Sonja and I'm 17 years old! I have written two books, but only one is completely edited and finished. I finished my last (I think) edits a couple of days ago. Now I am writing query letters to send off to agents. I would love to get in contact with some other teen writers. I have just started in the blog-world. My blog is http://prettylittlethingscalledwords.blogspot.com/ So far I've done a lot of random posts (the kind you write at 3 in the morning), but I'm going to be focusing on blogging about my writing story as I live it. Please check me out and send me links to your blogs :)

Thanks for the help!
I have not read all your tips from the Write a Novel, but I really want to start writing. Can I start writing, what do you recommend?
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I found this so helpful blog. But I have one question: What with a pictures for book? And what if I want 'draw' them?
ReplyDeleteI want to ask that too...
DeleteAre you talking about illustrators? It depends on the book, of course, but usually the publishing house pairs the author with an illustrator.
DeleteThank you!
DeleteHi! First off, I want to say that I am so thankful to you guys for what you're doing. I found your book at my local library and it has made all the difference. I am a teen writer and have completed the rough drafts of four tomes (in varying degrees of fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi) and have not mustered the bravery to publish any of them. The greatest reason for this is - editing. I don't want to edit too much or too little, and that caused setbacks. Your book has helped me move past that, and figure out what I needed to focus on to finish my stories. So, greatest thanks! That aside, I only have one question: the first piece I want to publish is actually a short story. I think it is too short to be published as a book, though, (exactly 15 pages), so I would like to publish it to a teen writers fiction/fantasy magazine. Do you have any suggestions on ones that may be good?___Lanfan15
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy I found this website!! I'm only in middle school and an currently working on my first novel that I'm actually serious about. I'm about half way through my first draft and only at 10,00 words. :( I feel like it's too short to be a novel and too long to be a short story! But I'll keep working on it and hopefully with the helpful advice of this amazing website I can manage to scratch up something I feel proud of!
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI just requested to join your Facebook group. Please add me!

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI am a paranoid young writer who doesn't belong to Facebook (for several reasons). In you very honest opinion, how would you rate you Facebook group on a scale of one to ten for encouragement, advice, and discussion?(Ten being like meeting a long lost amazing family and One being no one replies to anyone else, just empty space on the web)
I'm likely slightly biased towards the group, but I've heard many of the teens describe it as "10" kind of situation. It is certainly not just empty space on the web. Usually if I post a writing question, I have my answer in about 10 minutes. You'll find lots of young writers (teens and early twenties) who want to connect and talk and encourage you.
DeleteI'm a new follower and reader of the blog, and I love it! It's very useful for my novel. I'm nearing the ending of editing it after NaNoWriMo last November :)
ReplyDeleteWe're happy to have you, Kyra!
DeleteHi I'm new I came on this blog to meet people who love writing just as much as I do,
ReplyDeleteI have just recently started to plan and write a story that's been playing in my head for a few weeks, and I stumbled across this blog. I haven't really delved into the experience of writing a project of this size, and so far this blog has been an amazing help! So glad I found it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any writing prompts? I would really it if you had some!
ReplyDelete*really like it*
DeleteWow, I just found this site and I love it! I appreciate the all the applicable tips and also how clean and encouraging it is. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any tips/contests available for poetry? And also, I am in the middle of my first draft of my first novel, but up until this novel, I wrote poetry. Should I continue writing poetry? I was writing around four poems a week before I felt like I needed to write this novel. Advice, please? I love prose and poetry.
ReplyDeleteIf my advice matters--I am just another teen writer here--I say keep with your poetry! I write verse--I will not venture call it poetry--as well as novels, novellas, and essays for pleasure. No need to give up one for the other!
DeleteHello, I'm a fifteen-year old. I've just recently began writing stories and everyone says that they're kind of good. But as I hate writing with a word-limit(short-story), I started on a book. Fantasy. And I think I'm near finishing it, and it won't end in this single book, either. Well, basically, I need big-time help. My story's good but I think the crucial first chapter sucks. So, any tips on improving it?
ReplyDeleteWow, This is really late, but i had the same problem. What I did is have my Mom and Sister look over it, say what they like, don't like, and could be better. Then I revised the whole thing, one paragraph at a time. It is now a WHOLE lot better in everything. Save all of your revisions though, because something in revision #2 might fit perfectly in revision #7 and if you just delete the stuff you are revising you won't be able to get back to it.
DeleteI just found this website a couple weeks ago and I've already read almost all of the posts, back to 2010! It's already affected my writing processed and has helped me developed my characters better and actually give them all their own goals and motivation! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteShannon Dittemore is actually my creative writing mentor at my school, John Adams Academy!
ReplyDeleteWe love her :) Welcome, Lauren!

ReplyDeleteYay! exactly what i was looking for!!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon this great blog a while back. It's great inspiration for my own my own writing and writing blog, http://melodybrockebooks.blogspot.ca/. Thank you, GTW team! :)
ReplyDeleteHey!I'm new to the site and have millions of questions, but I firstly want to thank you for being so helpful!
ReplyDeleteI live in a small country in the Balkans called Montenegro.I've always loved fiction literature and I'm currently writing a fantasy novel.Thing is,I've read so many foreign language (mostly American and English) fiction books that I'm accustomed to those kinds of names to the point I just feel to weird and unsure while writing in my own language's style.you probably don't have mucj experience on this, but I'd like to ask you for your opinion-will it affect the book's quality or it being published in the future? Thanks for being the best,GTW team :)
Hello! I stumbled across this blog looking for writing prompts and I explored it a bit. This blog is great, and it gives great advice! I will definitely look more into this and continue to follow it. Has everything I need to further my writing and turn it into something *hopefully* great. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks
Hi
ReplyDeleteI just finished your book Go teen writers and loved it. I'm about half way through though my first draft and your book really helped with plot development and stronger characters. Also, is there a genre page on here? I love to write but l have no clue what genre I'm writing!
Also, how young is too young to try to get published?
Hi there, CL, and welcome to GTW! Here's a few posts that might help you with figuring out your genre:
Deletehttp://goteenwriters.blogspot.com/2012/06/what-genre-do-you-write.html
http://goteenwriters.blogspot.com/2015/11/are-genre-conventions-important.html
And regarding getting published: don't worry about that too much right now. Just get your first draft polished till it's gleaming, start making writing friends, and read books on writing craft. If you do start querying and you're under eighteen, just know that if you find an agent who wants to represent you, your parents will have to co-sign the contract because you're a minor.
Hope that helps!
It does, thanks!
DeleteHi! I am really excited to be here and to participate in all of this. I have read tons of posts that help me to understand how to write! My writing has gotten a lot better.
